Michelle Caouette

Foster Care Program Supervisor

Michelle joined our team as a Support Worker in 2007, following a year of experience with The Retreat’s Crossroads Treatment group care program. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree and demonstrates an exceptional ability to balance her professional responsibilities with continuous learning and development.

In her initial Support Worker role, Michelle played a role in establishing our Crossroads program in Central Alberta. Starting from the ground up—with no office location and no foster parents in place—she helped build the foundation of what has become a successful program. Today, she serves as our Program Supervisor for the Crossroads Foster Care program.

Michelle brings unique personal insight to her professional role, having served as a foster parent for over a decade. In addition to raising her two biological children, she was blessed to adopt one of her foster children and guided another foster daughter through to adulthood. She now also enjoys her role as grandmother to a grandson and granddaughter.

Extras:

  • Michelle is a master multi-tasker – dictating emails, while driving and downing coffee on her way to one of her four Service Team Meetings a day.
  • Michelle is a team player and a great collaborator. Her ability to think logically and see the good in everyone makes her a great team leader.
  • Michelle is also a skilled interior designer and while one is waiting for a Caseworker to show up, she can flip through paint chips and choose the next colour scheme for one’s office or living space!

What makes Michelle exceptional:

  • Natural team player and skilled collaborator who sees the best in everyone
  • Proven track record of program development and implementation

Personal interests:

  • Enjoys playing the piano and just took up pickleball which is a lot of fun! 😊
  • Landscaping and gardening

Michelle’s combination of professional expertise, personal experience, and genuine compassion makes her an invaluable leader in our foster care program.
