The primary goal of foster care is to provide safe, temporary care in family homes for children who cannot remain with their own families.
Crossroads believes that a family is the most beneficial and desirable environment for a child. The supportive atmosphere of a foster home assists in meeting the child’s emotional, social, and physical needs. Positive relationships and connections can occur in this environment.
A child’s stay in a foster home may be short term, until they can be returned to their birth families. If it is determined that a child cannot be safely returned to their family, their foster home can provide ongoing stability until a permanency plan is identified.

● Firsthand Experience: Our agency is built by professionals who have frontline experience either through fostering in their own families, or working directly with children and youth in group care environments. Our team possesses a unique understanding of a caregiver’s role, and the challenges and joys of fostering. We’re dedicated to supporting you every step of the way.

We stay closely connected with our foster families, and advocate for what our families need to maintain their family wellness. We provide ongoing training, guidance, debriefing, 24-hour on-call availability for those tough times, and a foster community to grow with.
● Caregiver Training: Crossroads assists caregivers as they complete government foster caregiver training. We also provide in-house supplementary training in foundational caregiving concepts and strategies.
● Focus on the Children: As a private agency, our focus is to optimize each young person’s positive development by matching them with the right foster families. We are committed to respecting all elements of young people’s lives by providing supports to assist children in building their resiliency while staying connected to their cultures and community.
● Clinical Expertise: Crossroads partners with Family Solutions Group and Kells Psychology to provide clinical oversight for our foster care program. Registered psychologists and behaviour care specialists work closely with our staff to individualize care plans, offering evidence based care tailored to each child’s needs. Additionally, Crossroads offers individualized plans of care (wraparounds) for counselling and other support services for caregivers.
