FAQs About Caregivers

Who are the Kinnections caregivers?

Caregivers come from all walks of life. Some are full-time caregivers, and some are part time. Some are students who provide early morning, late afternoon, evening, and weekend care. Caregivers might provide care in the client’s home or with their own family in a Host Home.

Kinnections recruits, screens, and hires appropriate caregivers who are able to safely and competently meet the needs of a client. If Kinnections does not have a current caregiver able to meet the needs of a client, we will try to recruit and train someone who can fill that position.

Kinnections also provides caregivers with ongoing training to enhance their skill set and increase their awareness of the wide variety of client needs. All caregivers are supervised and are encouraged to discuss any issues with their supervisor. Supervisors are available to problem-solve and to help think outside the box to meet a client’s individual needs.

How do you ensure the quality of care?

We ensure quality care through:

  • Rigorous screening and ongoing training for caregivers
  • Ongoing supervision and support for caregivers
  • Regular check-ins with families
  • Personalized care plans tailored to each individual’s needs
  • Continuous evaluation and improvement of our services
What if I’m not satisfied with the care provided?

We are committed to your satisfaction with our services. If you have any concerns about the care provided, please contact the program supervisor immediately. We will work with you to address any issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure you receive the highest quality care.

Can I choose my caregiver?

While we can’t always guarantee a specific caregiver, we do our best to match families with caregivers who have the right skills and personality to meet your needs. We welcome your input in this process and will work with you to find the best fit.

What training do your caregivers receive?

Our caregivers receive comprehensive training and ongoing professional development. Topics include:

  • A comprehensive orientation
  • Safety and emergency procedures
  • Commonly seen conditions and disorders
  • Trauma-informed caregiving
  • Suicide and self-injury awareness
  • Behavior management techniques
  • Medication administration
  • Documentation training
  • Specific care techniques relevant to the individuals they support
