Lydia-Ann started working for Kinnections in 2019 when Kinnect House, our group home for overnight care of special needs youth, first opened its doors. Prior to that, she worked in various roles with Family Solutions Group (FSG) (Kinnections’ parent company). Lydia-Ann began as the House Parent at Kinnect House and took on many other roles after that including Youth Worker, Family/Key worker and is currently Supervisor of Kinnect House. Her focus, as Supervisor, is providing training and support for the staff who work at Kinnect House as well as for the families who use Kinnect House programs.
Lydia-Ann’s overarching goal is to ensure Kinnect House is a safe place where both parents and youth feel supported and can learn and practice new skills to ultimately bring youth back home in a better functioning way. Lydia-Ann has over 25 years of experience working with children and youth in various roles including childcare, running summer camps, teaching music privately, and training youth in various skills. She hopes to apply soon for a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. Lydia-Ann earned a Bachelor of Music degree with a focus on Vocal Performance. She sings with Choral Saint Jean Choir, Edmonton Opera Chorus and Pop Goes the Opera. She also teaches voice and violin to individuals of all ages. She loves to read and take care of her plants.
